From Our Residents and Families

At Tower Hill, our hard work and efforts are rewarded daily by the patients and residents we serve. Not only are we thanked in person on a regular basis, we receive countless letters, poems and artwork showing appreciation. This story is representative of many we receive. For more letters received by this center, contact the admissions director.

Dear Friends,

I would like to thank everyone who works at Tower Hill Center, especially Medical Director Zinaida Levin and Russian Program Director Lena Zeliger. Besides their professionalism they have very big hearts. I have to tell you that the Russian nurses and CNAs working at Tower Hill Center have a lot of patience and are very friendly, caring and giving people. I remember every one of them and sincerely appreciate their hard work. The Center has a wonderful courtyard, main dining room and nice, comfortable rooms for residents.

I am wishing all of you a happy and healthy New Year. God Bless you for what you do, and I am sure that I will see you again, because I am 93 years old.

Love, Anna M.

I am writing to express my sincere gratitude and tell you about my mother, Judith A. - a recently released patient from the Tower Hill Center for Health and Rehabilitation.

My mother, who is 89 years old and does not speak English, was admitted into Norwood Caritas Hospital with severe health problems and a broken right shoulder.

While spending days and nights with my mother at the hospital, I did not know what to do - she was completely helpless: she could not eat, dress or do anything else without someone else's help. As I mentioned above, this situation was further complicated by the fact that my mother speaks only Russian. I had heard from my friends about the existence of Tower Hill Center and its Russian program. My mother was transferred to Tower Hill a few days later.

We arrived to Tower Hill around 10 in the evening and within minutes, there was a Russian-speaking staff member standing next to my mother. For the first time in days both she and I felt a bit relieved. I felt comfortable enough to go home.

The next day I met the Tower Hill Russian program director - Lena Zeliger. Among other things, she told me about the program, what the care will entail, about the availability of kosher meals, and the special diet that my mother will be able to follow because she is a diabetic.

Doctor Zinaida Levine paid my mother a tremendous amount of much needed attention from both medical and personal perspectives. Moreover, my mother had several sessions with the staff psychologist to make sure that she felt secure and moved faster toward recovery and gaining independence.

Combined with daily sessions with the skilled physical therapist, I believe it was the Tower Hill Russian program and staff that enabled my mother to make such a great recovery - today, she is back at home, living independently. The value of the program cannot be summarized in words, but I shall do my best:

  • Staff was amazing - they are caring, skilled professionals with wonderful friendly personalities, necessary to uplift one's spirit;
  • For my mother, the ability to communicate is the primary concern - it was solved at Tower Hill with Russian-speaking nurses, doctors and other personnel. Moreover, Ms. Zeliger showed genuine interest in my mother's needs - she really cared about my mother's well-being by checking up on her daily. Even today, when my mom is at home, Ms. Zeliger called several times to find out how mother is doing and offer assistance if needed;
  • Availability of Russian activities, books, magazines, newspapers and television made my mother feel as if she was at home, connected to the rest of the world;
  • Finally, it was a wonderful opportunity for her to meet other Russian seniors - she made several new friends.

I wanted to share our family's experience with you and thank you, Dr. Zinaida Levine, Lena Zeliger, and everyone at Tower Hill for making things easier during this difficult time. I am doing my part by sharing this experience with all my friends, and I hope you will help the Russian program at Tower Hill to thrive and make a difference for other families. Thank you again!
